The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames have claimed their spot on top of the WNBL ladder after two wins over the University of Canberra Capitals in Round 5.

In Round 6, they head back on the road to take on the seventh placed Bendigo Spirit on Thursday 9th November at 7pm.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams and the Spirit will come into the game with confidence, after knocking off Melbourne Boomers in their last outing at Bendigo Stadium.

The Flames then return to Brydens Stadium this Saturday 11th November at 3pm, in the Fox Sports game of the week.

Undefeated on their home court, the Flames will be looking to continue their winning form and solidify their spot on top of the WNBL ladder.

“In a league this tough you can’t afford to lose any advantage and playing at home and winning is important,” Chambers said after the Flames Round 5 victory over the Capitals at home.

Since the two teams previous meeting in Round 4, where the Flames came out on top 81-62, the Boomers have fallen from first place to fourth on the leaderboard. However, they snapped their three game losing streak, defeating the Dandenong Rangers earlier this week and will be fighting to claw their way back up to the top.

The much anticipated “battle of the bigs” continues as 201cm Jen Hamson and 203cm Liz Cambage face off in what will be a game not to be missed.
