The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames have had a busy week in the lead up to their opening round clash against the University of Canberra Capitals.

The team returned home from the pre season tournament on Sunday night proud of their comeptitive efforts, after playing against three of the leagues heavyweights in Melbourne, Bendigo and Adelaide. They lost their first two games within ten point margins despite leading at many points during these games.

In their final game on Sunday against the Adelaide Lightening, the Flames produced their best performance winning 87-71. Katie Rae Ebzery had a fantastic performance, dominating the court with 28 points in 22 minutes of play.

Returning back to Sydney the team was joined at training this week by Leilani Mitchell who had been competing at the World Championships in Turkey. Leilani comes back with a bronze medal after competing with the Opals in what was a great tournament for both the team and for her personally. She will be a formidable force in the back court for the Flames this season.

The team also celebrated their season launch on Wednesday 15 October at the Grandstand, where the players were formally introduced to sponsors and collected their new playing jerseys. With these formalities now complete the team has trained hard this week in anticipation of their clash with Canberra and will commence the road trip today.
