Greater Western Sydney and Sydney University Bombers ruck, Erin McKinnon, has been selected in the 2018 AFL Women’s All Australian Team.

McKinnon was rewarded for her fantastic efforts this season, as she was named the sole ruck in the 21-person team.

In her second year in the league, the 19-year-old won a competition-high 173 hit-outs at an average of 24.7 per game, while also averaging five disposals per game.

McKinnon was initially drafted from the Sydney University Bombers in 2016 as pick number 48. She played every game of the inaugural season, earning a NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination.

This season, the GWS Giants finished the season in fourth position, a huge improvement from their last place finish in 2017.

McKinnon is not the only Sydney University Bomber on the GWS roster. Fellow team mate Nicola Barr was the number one draft pick in the inaugural season and also earned a rising star nomination in 2017. This season, the midfielder played all seven games averaging 10.7 disposals, 3 tackles and 1.7 marks per game.

Both McKinnon and Barr are also members of the Sydney University Elite Athlete Program, pursuing education while competing at the top level of their sport.

The Sydney University Bombers play their first game of the season at 2:30pm on Saturday 7th April at Sydney Uni No.1 Oval against the Western Wolves.
