Sydney University track sprinter Ian Dewhurst will head into tomorrow’s 400m final at the 2013 Summer Universiade (World University Games) full of a confidence after recording the third fastest semi-final time.

Based on semi-final times, Dewhurst’s (49.89) main competitors for a medal appear to be Senegal’s Amadou Ndiaye (49.74) and Russia’s Ivan Shablyuev (49.82).

Following on his sixth place finish in yesterday’s 100m final, Nick Hough put in another fantastic run as he qualified ninth fastest in the heats of the 200m to advance to tomorrow’s semi-final.

Katie-Rae Ebzery contributed 10 points and seven assists as the Australian women’s basketball team didn’t break a sweat in their 94-45 thrashing of China. The Uniroos have won both of their games thus far. They defeated Hungary by 26 points on Monday.

Fencer Matthew Donald was knocked out in the round of 64 of the men’s foil.

Sydney University has a total of 17 representatives competing for Australia at the 27th Summer Universiade in Russia. Please note that Anneliese Rubie was named in the team but will not compete due to injury.
