Sydney University Football Club (SUFC) 1st grade captain Tim Davidson will lead his team into grand final battle for the eight consecutive occasion on Saturday, as the Students take on Southern Districts at Concord Oval.
Davidson played his 150th 1st grade game in the preliminary final against Northern Suburbs last weekend, becoming the fifth highest capped 1st Grade player at the club.
Like all true leaders, Davidson credits making the grand final to the hard work of every single player who has pulled on the blue and gold jersey.
“It’s the hard work that all the guys have put in this year that has got us into this position,” he said.
“It will give us confidence for the weekend, but we’re well aware that the job’s not done yet.”
While it may be Davidson’s and SUFC’s eighth consecutive appearance in a grand final, congratulations must be given to Southern Districts who have been working tirelessly over the last couple of seasons to strengthen their club and will play in the club’s first ever Shute Shield Grand Final.
“It is a massive achievement for any club to make a grand final, no matter what grade, and Souths should be very proud of the work that they have put into building their club and making the Final on Saturday,” said Davidson.
“We know it is going to be a tough encounter on Saturday, Souths will throw everything at this game, but so will we and after the heartbreaking three point loss to Eastwood last year we won’t be leaving anything to chance.”
Sydney University will also play grand finals in 2nd grade and 3rd grade on Saturday, with the club already wrapping up two Premierships (Colts 1 & 2) last weekend in the Colts grand finals.
