Sydney University’s Club Championship aspirations nose-dived in Saturday’s round of limited overs matches, with Parramatta winning four of the five grades, including a low-scoring First Grade encounter at University No.1 Oval.

After losing the toss and being sent in, the Students eked 112 off 42.2 overs, with Ian Moran (26) and Will Somerville (26) the only batsmen to make starts as James Parkinson (4-47) and Daniel Jackson (2-13) ran riot.

But it wasn’t all one-way traffic for the visitors, who lost six wickets chasing down the total in 33 overs, with Michael Stretton (37), Darren Smith (19 not out) and Brenton Cherry (19) the main contributors.

David Miller (62), Jack Hill (55) and Will Hay (34) helped University Seconds to a solid 7-219 at Old Kings Oval, but Parramatta only lost two wickets chasing down the target in 42 overs, with Adam Turrell finishing on a tantalising 99 not out.

Sydney University Thirds collected the points with a four-wicket win at University No.2 Oval, but Fourths lost by four wickets at Merrylands Oval and Fifths went down by three wickets at St Paul’s College Oval.
