Sydney University went to stumps in a strong position on day one of their two-day, Round 13 match against Gordon on Saturday.

The Students finished the day all out on 316 off 95 overs, with ‘keeper Tim Cummins (80), No.3 Damien Mortimer (71) and No.9 Dugald Holloway (63) dominating the scoring.

Cummins entered proceedings with Sydney University 6-136 and set about righting the ship. He cracked 11 boundaries and a pair of sixes in his 122-ball knock.

He also shared a 122-run partnership with Holloway, who hit six boundaries and two over the fence.

Glenn Winsor was the pick of the trundlers, finishing with 4-35 from his 15 overs.

Meanwhile, opener Maddy Darke posted her maiden century for Universities in First Grade’s 69-run win over Penrith at David Phillips Fields on Sunday.

Darke scored 126 from 130 deliveries, with 13 boundaries, as Universities tallied 4-273 from their 50 overs. She shared solid partnerships with No.3 Oliver Porter (75) and opener Carly Leeson (40).

Universities held the visitors to 9-204, with Porter taking the bowling honours with 3-41, while Danielle Armstrong chipped in with 2-28.

Parramatta head the First Grade ladder on 36 points after seven rounds, with Campbelltown-Camden (27), Universities (26) and Penrith (26) making up the top four.
