Sydney University’s promising start to the 2013-14 cricket season continued at Raby No.1 Oval on Saturday when they put themselves in a strong position to claim outright points against Campbelltown-Camden.
Having won the toss and sent Campbelltown-Camden in to bat, the Students rolled the hosts for 132, with quick Will Somerville 2-7, young leg-spinner Jonte Pattison 2-10 and skipper Greg Mail 2-20 claiming the bulk of the wickets.
Sydney University reeled in the total and by the close of play were 1-131, with opener Ryan Carters unbeaten on 46 and Mark Faraday on 45. The Students lost opener Scott Henry for 38.
With a solid batting line-up headed by Mail and Nick Larkin sitting in the sheds, Sydney University will be pushing for an outright result next Saturday.

“He wanted to transfer his studies to Sydney University and we were very fortunate to secure his services,” Sydney University coach Gary Whitaker said. “He trains hard, is a very good cricketer and a talented student. He’s now contracted with the NSW squad.”
Sydney University Seconds are also pushing for an outright result at No.2 Oval.
Josh Toyer claimed 6-52 as the Students rolled Campbelltown-Camden for 118 after they had won the toss and batted.
Sydney University declared at 6-219, with Alex Logan (70), Will Hay (51) and Adam Theobald (37) providing lucrative contributions. Campbelltown-Camden were 0-13 in their second innings at stumps.
