Former NSW men’s hockey representative Aaron Oman has been appointed Director of Hockey at Sydney University Sport and Fitness Centre.
SUSFC High Performance and Club Development Manager Matthew Phelps said the part-time role has been created for Oman to provide elite coaching for both the men’s and women’s programs.
“Aaron will also assist club coaches with professional development initiatives,” Mr Phelps said.
Oman comes to the university with a wealth of experience under his belt.
During a playing career spanning 1999-2003, he played 230 first grade games for Glebe and represented the NSW men’s AHL side and the NSW Institute of Sport between 1999-2003.
He was club captain and assistant coach at the Glebe club from 2003-08 and first grade coach of the Briars Hockey Club from 2005.
Oman was appointed assistant coach of the NSW Under 18s in 2006. He has been a selector of the NSW Under 18 and Under 21 sides since 2005.
He was appointed assistant coach of the NSW Waratahs following the 2008 National Championships. NSW made the semi-finals in 2009, before finishing 3rd.
