Sydney Uni Football Club (SUFC) players have given back to the community these school holidays as they coach and mentor at the Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness Autumn Rugby Sports School Camp.
I used to look up to the older boys when I was young. Even now, I look up to people like Phil Waugh as he is part of the Sydney Uni Football Club and he plays the same position as I do,’ said Coaching Director and SUFC 2nd Grade’s Dan Lewinski.
SUFC players not only show outstanding promise on the football field, but are positive role models to the younger rugby community.
The rugby coaches promote healthy outdoors activities and pro-social behaviour, which is extremely important for the boys aged between 6 and 16 years.
Interacting with these kids is great! I really enjoy watching them learn and develop as we teach them new rugby skills,’ said Sydney Uni Football Club’s Tom Tombleson.
Many of the young boys who attended the Rugby Sports Camp did not actually play club rugby, although at the end of the camp most boys wanted to sign up with a club,’ said Lewinski.
School camps each school holidays are an integral part of the sport education program of Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness, Sydney’s premium sport and fitness organisation.
