The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames are pleased to announce that Shannon Seebohm has been appointed as Head Coach for the next two seasons.

Seebohm joins the Flames after a successful playing career in the NBL and building a strong reputation as a coach with the Sydney Kings.

Seebohm brings a wealth of knowledge to the Flames having played for his country in the FIBA U/19 World Championships, attending the AIS and playing with the South Dragon’s in the National Basketball League before a health complaint stopped his promising career. Since retirement, he has further explored his passion for basketball by devoting his time to becoming one of the emerging coaching talents in Australia.

Upon accepting the role with the Flames, Seebohm said: “I am extremely excited by the opportunity to coach the Flames and further progress my coaching career.  I am thrilled to be working with the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames and their parent organisation Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness. The infrastructure available for the Head Coach and the players is simply remarkable.”

“I see immense talent in the Flames roster, a great mix between experience and youth with quality options across the board. The team has a great foundation and with the acquisition of Leilani Mitchell, Kate Oliver plus the addition of a quality post player will provide the tools for a tilt at finals basketball.”

Brydens Sydney Uni Flames General Manager Karen Dalton is pleased to secure a coach of Seebohm’s quality. “Shannon has developed into an extremely level headed and exciting coaching talent. His technical and tactical analysis of the game is excellent. I look forward to seeing the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames play an exciting, aggressive and positive brand of basketball under the guidance of Shannon for the next two seasons.”

Seebohm will commence his duties immediately as the Flames look to finalise their roster and continue preparations for the 2014/15 Wattle Valley WNBL season.
