The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames are pleased to announce that Flames legend Karen Dalton has been appointed to the new role of General Manager.

Dalton, a Basketball Australia Hall of Fame inductee and double Olympian, played 252 games for the Australian Opals and 375 games for the Flames franchise. She will begin her new role immediately.

The Flames General Manager role has been created to meet the needs of a growing fan base, to maximize commercial opportunities and to unearth and develop the next generation of Flames stars.

Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF) High Performance Manager, Matthew Phelps gave credit to Dalton for the sound platform she has created for the Flames and looks forward to improving the long-term viability of the franchise.

“This role will allow Karen to maintain her strong connection with the game and create a Flames dynasty into the future.”

“As a proven leader, Karen will be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of the Flames program including creating an Academy that will produce the future stars of the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames. I am excited for our community engagement and player development programs, as well as our commercial partners who will all benefit.”

“I’m looking forward to taking on this new role with the Flames, which will allow me to focus on developing and improving some different areas of the franchise,” said Dalton.
