The bemused looks on many who attended the annual NSW Rowing Association Presentation Dinner in May were finally explained this week with the announcement that errors had been made and that Sydney University Boat Club and its rowers should have been the recipients of a number of extra awards.

Following a call from SUBC for a recount, the NSWRA has announced that Sydney University is now confirmed as the 2007-08 winner of the L. E. Stepto Premiership, the Men’s Elite and Under 23 Shield and the Women’s Elite and Under 23 Shield.

These awards are in addition to the announcement on the night of awards in the Men’s Senior Shield, the Women’s Elite (Senior) Shield and the NSWRA State Championship Honours Trophy.

Sydney University Rowing also won the Centenary Oar at the 2008 national titles for the club winning the most points at that event.

Watson was named Oarswoman of the Year at the annual NSW Rowing Association Presentation Dinner.

Sydney University Rowing and Boat Clubs cleaned up at the annual event, winning a host of awards, including the NSWRA Honours Recipient Trophy for the sixth year.

The Rowing and Boat Clubs also won the Women’s Senior Shield, the Men’s Senior Shield, the Kevin Webb OAM Point Score (NSW Sprint Championships) and the Edward Trickett NSW Grade Championships.

The University finished second in the Women’s Elite Shield, the Men’s Elite Shield, the L.E. Stepto OAM Memorial Shield (Premiership) and the Bohemia Crystal River Cup and third in the Combined Under-20 Shield.
