The Sydney University
Blues juggernaut rolls on to the AFL Sydney Second Division Grand Final after a
crushing 79-point shutout of the UNSW/ES Bulldogs in the preliminary final at
Kelso Oval on Saturday.

With the Minor Premier
Blues facing the third place finishers UNSW/ES, and only two wins separating
the sides after 18 rounds of competition, a close encounter was expected. And
that is how the match began, with five points separating the two teams at
quarter time. The scoreline symmetry did not last long however, as a six goal
to none second quarter from the Blues took the game away from the Bulldogs.

The third quarter was
another tight period, with neither team able to kick a goal. But once again the
Blues overwhelmed their inaccurate opponents in the fourth quarter, scoring
another six goals and not conceding a point to finish 12.13.85 to 0.6.6
winners.

The Blues were at once
the unstoppable force and the immovable object. The Blues attack overwhelmed
their hapless opponents, and their defence kept the Bulldogs goalless through
80 minutes of finals football. And the Blues did all this without their leading
goal scorer, Cameron Greatbatch, who had scored 41 goals in 14 matches this
season.

Daniel Archer and Lachlan
McDowell both scored three goals for Sydney University, with Andrew Cohen
scoring two and David Owen, Ben Morgan, Philip Urizar-Climent and John Bennett
scoring one each.
Archer, Cohen and Bennett were also
named in the best players group for the match alongside Robert Goodall, Ryan
Kennedy and Zac Wallis.

The Blues’ emphatic
victory over the third placed UNSW/ES will give them confidence heading into
the Grand Final against Pennant Hills at Kelso Oval next Saturday.
