One of the most awaited events on the Sydney University calendar, is the annual UniSport Nationals, as it returns to the sunny Gold Coast from the 23rd to the 29th of September.
With over 6,000 participants from all different Universities in Australia. They will compete for a week in 31 different sports to be crowned ‘National Champions’.
Sydney University will represent one of the largest groups within the competition with a total of 407 student-athletes competing in 22 sports.
We congratulate newly appointed Captains Lauren Thomas (Netball)Â and Jay Hirshowitz (Soccer) on their roles. Both we know will lead the troops gallantly on our path to victory in the Gold Coast.
“We are immensely proud of our athletes for taking the time out of their work and studies to don the blue and gold for USYD. More than just a sporting event, previous representatives look back on their time at Nationals with the fondest memories and consider it a highlight of their university experience – with lifelong friendships, learnings, and even marriages forged from it.Â
We all wish our athletes and staff members the very best of luck in their national’s campaign as we defend our Overall Champion University title that we’ve held since 2019. We are confident that they will make us proud both on and off the courts and fields of the Gold Coast.” – Ed Smith, CEO of Sydney Uni Sports & Fitness
From everyone at Sydney University, we send our best wishes to all Students competing over the week as they represent the University with pride.
