  3. Sydney Uni Swim Sweep The Podium

While many of us thought of ways to max out the last days of summer, our senior squad from the Sydney University Swimming Club headed to Olympic Park to compete in the 2021 NSW Senior Metropolitan Championships.

Our Elite Athlete Program student-athletes were well represented throughout the competition with a strong cohort finishing with podium places. A major highlight was the sweeping of the podium in the Men’s 400m Freestyle by James Koch (Gold), Daniel Perez (Silver) and Cormac Guthrie (Bronze).

Here is a full list of squad highlights:

  • James Koch: 400m Freestyle Gold, 200m Freestyle Gold
  • Daniel Perez: 400m Freestyle Silver
  • Cormac Guthrie: 1500m Freestyle Silver, 800m Freestyle Silver, 400m Freestyle Bronze
  • Tom Goddard: 50m Backstroke Silver, 50m Freestyle Bronze
  • Frankie Shires: 1500m Freestyle Silver
  • Sarah Wellfare: 800m Freestyle Silver

Prior to this, most of these athletes were in an intense two-week training camp in Thredbo and Ulladulla. Safe to say, the results spoke for themselves.
