First Grade’s win over Gordon at Chatswood Oval came on the back of a 316-run first innings total on day one, thanks to big contributions from Tim Cummins (80), Damien Mortimer (71), Dugald Holloway (63) and Ryan McElduff (32).

Mortimer’s knock took him past 500 runs for the season, the 26th occasion he’s passed 50 in First Grade, including six centuries.

The Students then rolled the hosts for 245, with Ben Joy (4-65) and Dugald Holloway (3-52) causing most damage.

Meanwhile, Universities opener Maddy Darke posted a second consecutive century in the Sydney Women’s Premiere competition clash with Bankstown at Bankstown Oval on Sunday.

Darke backed up her 126 against Penrith in Round 7 with an unbeaten 110 off 119 deliveries against Bankstown. She hit eight boundaries in her 173-minute stay as Universities amassed 6-202 from their 50 overs.

Darke has posted 491 runs from her 10 knocks this season and is averaging a handsome 81.
