Following a stellar season, Inner Western Suburbs First Team has qualified for the Dooley’s Metro League Second Grade Grade Final. After dropping only one game throughout the regular season, they defeated Minor Premiers Manly -Warringah 44-36 in the Major Semi Final.
Defender, Ellen Spencer was instrumental in the team’s victory finishing the match with a team high, 13 intercepts and created 8 forced errors. Ellen’s athleticism, composure and ability to read the play was exceptional and was on full display in the Major Semi.
The team will get a well-deserved week off while they wait to find out their Grand Final opposition. The preliminary final will be played between Manly-Warringah and Campbelltown.
In Third Division, Inner Western Suburbs defeated Randwick, 46-36, in the Major Semi Final also qualifying for the Grand Final in 2018. They will again take on Randwick in the Grand Final after Randwick defeated Manly in the preliminary final last week.
Inner Western Suburbs will also feature in the Sixth Division Grand Final after they defeated Illawarra 53-47 in the Major Semi Final.
