Sydney University Soccer Football Club will feature in the finals of five of the seven NPL Men’s 3 NSW and 2 competitions this weekend.

The men’s First Division side missed out on finals football, finishing seventh on the ladder on 42 points after 26 rounds of the competition proper.

St George City won the First Division minor premiership on 59 points, with Hawkesbury City (54), Gladesville Ryde Magic (52), SD Raiders (47), Bankstown City (46) and Dunbar Rovers (44) making up the top six.

Sydney University’s Under 20 side finished third (51 points) on the ladder behind St George City (62) and Gladesville Ryde Magic (54), with Hawkesbury City (49), Dunbar Rovers (45) and SD Raiders (45) making up the top six.

SUSFC’s Under 18 finished second on the ladder behind Gladesville Ryde Magic, with Hawkesbury City, St George City, Dunbar Rovers and SD Raiders making up the six.

Sydney University won the minor premiership in the NPL 2 Under 16 NSW Youth competition. They defeated Gladesville Ryde Magic 1-nil in an elimination final at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday, putting them in a preliminary final against Stanmore Hawks this weekend.

The club’s Under 15s exited the competition after their 1-nil loss in an elimination final against Gladesville Ryde Magic at Christie Park on Saturday.

Sydney University’s Under 14s advanced to a preliminary final after defeating SD Raiders 2-nil in an elimination final at Arlington Oval on Saturday. Their next opponent will be St George City at the same venue.

SUSFC’s Under 13s also advanced to a preliminary final after drawing 1nil with Hawkesbury City at Arlington Oval on Saturday. They’ll meet Dunbar Rovers at the same venue this Saturday.

Meanwhile, Macarthur Rams defeated Sydney University 4-3 in the 2018 grand final of the NPL NSW Women’s competition at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday.

Leena Khamis, Kylie Ledbrook, Kate Hensman and Georgia Yeoman-Dale scored for the winners, while Cortnee Vine scored two of Sydney University’s goals, with Nickoletta Flannery scoring the other.

The Students had some consolation on the day with the Under 17s defeating Manly United 3-2 to earn the 2018 title.

Sophie Hoban scored two of Sydney University’s goals, with Tulley McEvoy scoring the other, while Lily Schnitzler scored twice for Manly United.

First Grade SD Raiders 3 drew with Sydney University 3 (Scott Tonkin 2, Jovan Blagojevic) at Marconi Stadium on Sunday.

Under 20: SD Raiders 3 defeated Sydney University 2 (Maxwell Glanville, Joshua Johnson) at Marconi Stadium on Sunday.

Under 18: Sydney University 5 (Ali Faour 3, Dean Sozeridis, Fletcher Williamson) defeated SD Raiders 0 at Marconi Stadium on Sunday.

NPL 2 Youth competition – Elimination Finals

Under 16: Sydney University 1 (Nathan Pepe) defeated Gladesville Ryde Magic 0 at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday.

Under 15: Gladesville Magic 1 defeated Sydney University 0 at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday.

Under 14: Sydney University 2 (Duke Bushby, Liam Bolton) defeated SD Raiders 0 at Arlington Oval on Sunday.

Under 13: Hawkesbury City 1 (Ricardo White) drew with Sydney University 1 (Elad Ben David) at Arlington Oval on Saturday.

 

NPL Women’s competition – Grand Finals

First Grade: Macarthur Rams 4 (Leena Khamis, Kylie Ledbrook, Kate Hensman, Georgia Yeoman-Dale) defeated Sydney University 3 (Cortnee Vine 2, Nickoletta Flannery) at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday.

Under 17: Sydney University 3 (Sophie Hoban 2, Tulley McEvoy) defeated Manly United 2 (Lily Schnitzler 2) at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday.
