Sydney University have continued their recent run of great form with a convincing 5-1 victory over sixth placed Camden in the National Premier League Men’s (NPL3) Football Competition.
The match played at Sydney University Football Ground on Saturday night proved they are a force to be reckoned with, heading into the back end of the season.
Jovan Blagojevic got the home side in front early, scoring from close range in the 7th minute and Michael Loupis doubled Uni’s advantage in the 38th minute.
Camden got themselves back into the game with a goal in the 76th minute. Trailing 2-1 with just under 15 minutes remaining it was anyone’s game.
However, not long after Uni went on a scoring frenzy. Substitute, Panayoti Gotsis, scored their third goal in the 82nd minute, Scott Tonkin netted another moments later and Loupis scored his second and his team’s fifth in injury time
Marred by a slow start to the season, Sydney University flicked a switch mid-way through the competition. With a fantastic run in the last eight games, they have started to climb the ladder now sitting inside the top eight. The last defeat University suffered was in late May, when they lost 1-0 to ladder-leading St-George. Since that encounter in Round Nine they have gone undefeated, winning five matches and drawing three.
Rounding out a successful weekend, Sydney University Soccer Football Club’s Men’s Program secured wins across the board in all seven divisions/age groups.
