The University Of Sydney finished third overall at last week’s Snow University Games in Thredbo, NSW, with students delivering strong performances across a number of events.
The Games, hosted by Australian University Sport from 27 August until 31 August at Thredbo Resort, saw over 380 student-athlete skiers and snowborders from New South Wales, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, and Queensland compete.
The University of Sydney’s Oliver Thompson took home the C.T Grogan Perpetual Trophy for Men’s Overall Alpine Champion, placing 1st in the Men’s Super G and Men’s Slalom, and 2nd in the Men’s Giant Slalom. Congratulations to Oliver on the outstanding results.
Other standout results included Tom Lewis’ 3rd place finish in the Men’s Slalom and Jim Liddle’s 1st place finish in the Men’s Skiier Cross.
Natalie Turner, Olivia Jackson and Kate Walsh finished 3rd in the Women’s Cross Country, and in the Women’s Skiier Cross, Eilish Sheerin finished 2nd.
Sienna Doolan finished 2nd and 3rd in the Women’s Boardercross and Giant Slalom Snowboard, respectively.
This year, the University of New South Wales claimed the overall championship, overall female champion, overall male champion, and cross country champion titles. The University of Technology Sydney came in at second overall, followed by the University of Sydney.
The University of Newcastle took home the Spirit of the Mountain trophy for the second year in a row.
