Second and third grade advance to finals

Sydney University Baseball Club will be represented by 2nd’s and 3rd’s in round two of the SWBL Playoffs; with both teams just one win away from making Grand Final weekend.

2nd Grade defeated Quakers Hill 5-4, as Sydney Uni’s offence delivered clutch go-ahead hits in three separate innings.  The Cynics’ pitching staff combined to strike out 13 batters, Dave Symons and Zak Horton contributed 2 hits and 2 RBI’s apiece; capitalised by the latter’s solo HR in the bottom of the 8th for the winning run. Second Grade boxscore available here. 

3rd Grade lost to Petersham 7-1, but have a second bite thanks to a top-2 finish. The Cynics were the better team early but were unable to capitalise, leaving 12 runners on base. Anthony Palmer and Tim Nelson both had 2 hits, whilst Lachlan Dean pitched sharp innings to start, before momentum swung to the opposition.
