2016 AUS Snow Uni Games is underway at Mount Buller in Victoria. Running from Tuesday 30th August to Saturday 3rd September, the event will showcase Sydney University snow sports talent across an array of events.
Sydney Uni kicked off the first day in style, taking home two bronze medals. Congratulations to Charlie Phillips (rails – board) and Kate Walsh (rails – ski).
Day two saw the weather take a turn for the worst with rain and visibility low, making difficult conditions for all competitors. The morning sessions saw Sydney University compete in Board Giant Slalom whilst skiers took part in the Ski Cross competition. Alex Podgorski brought in USYD’s first gold in the Ski Cross whilst Phoebe Wood also finished with a silver and Tom Lewis finished with bronze.
Moguls took place in the afternoon, which went ahead despite ongoing hail storms. All USYD competitors raced well, each securing finals positions. However, a stand out performance was made by Gen Martin who took home the silver medal in the ladies event.
With three days of competition remaining, Sydney Uni is looking to secure more medals in order to retain the overall snow sports championship.
