Robyn Soper, Nick Roche and Vladimir Ditrolo of the Sydney Uni Wrestling Club will compete for the Canberra Cup to be held at the Australian Institute of Sport this weekend.
Athletes who qualify top 3 at the Canberra Cup will represent Australia at the Oceania Championships in Auckland NZ March, 2016. After Auckland the last chance to qualify for The Olympic Games is at the African Champs in May 2016 ready for the Rio Olympics in August.
Current MVP of the club Jayden Lawrence has been out since the Commonwealth Games after shoulder surgery however because of his prior domination of the sport in Australia he has special allowance to qualify at a later date.
Sydney University Wrestling Club is home to 3 ex Olympic wrestlers in coaches Martin Doyle, Leonid Zaslavski & new Greco Roman coach Yassine Djikrir. It is also home to Kyla Bremner, the only woman ever to represent Australia in Wrestling in 2006.
This is also the first competition the Sydney Uni Wrestling Club will be debuting in their new uniform.
