The rugby season is not over for Sydney University Women’s Rugby. Although the XVs season has come to an end, the sevens season has just kicked off.
SUWR attended Southern Highlands sevens in Bowral over the weekend, fielding two teams.
Team 1 topped their pool beating Manly (33-10) and Newcastle (15-0), while Team 2 drew 17 all to the representative side Illawarra and lost to Ozboks.
Team 2 then battled it out against Newcastle in the Bowl final, losing by only a small margin.
Team 1 progressed through to the Cup Final beating Illawara (45-0) in the semi-final. The students fell just short losing (21-26) to a very experienced Ozboks side in the Cup Final.
The girls now have a weekend off before competing in Byron Bay sevens on the 17th and 18th of October.
