The NSW Metropolitan Championships were held over the 11th and 12th of July and produced a wonderful weekend of racing for the Sydney Uni Age Group Swim Program.
A record number of Sydney Uni Age Group Swimmers qualified this year, following months of hard work in the training pool. Congratulations to Jake Andrews, Tess Atutahi, Maddy Fairlie, Dominic Goonan, Laura La Motta, Callum McKenzie, Alex McVeigh, Daisy Message, Jack Millar, Antonio Perez, Finn Purcell, Dylan Rubin, Alex Scarfe, Nathan Wang, and Sarah Wellfare who all raced exceptionally well over a very long weekend of competition; producing 60% personal best times.
The Age Group Swim Program also recorded it’s best medal haul at a Metropolitan Championships with three swimmers producing outstanding results, congratulations to:
Maddy Failie: Girls 12 years 100m Backstroke – GOLD
Callum McKenzie: Boys 14-15 years 400m Freestyle – BRONZE, Boys 15 years 100m Freestyle – BRONZE
Sarah Wellfare: Girls 15 years 200m Freestyle – SILVER, Girls 14-15 years 400m Freestyle – SILVER

Girls 12 years 100m Freestyle – 4th;
Girls 13 years and under 400m Freestyle – 7th
Callum McKenzie: Boys 14-15 years 200m Freestyle – 5th
Jack Millar: Boys 13 years 100m Breastroke – 8th;
Boys 13 years and under 200m Breastroke – 5th
Sarah Wellfare: Girls 15 years 100m Back – 5th; Girls 15 years 100m Free – 4th
All swimmers are now back in to full training in preparation for the ACT Winter Championships on the 1st and 2nd of August; and the NSW State Age Championships at the end of August.
