The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames are excited to announce the signing of talented, young star Alex Wilson to their roster for the next two seasons.
Alex comes to Sydney after spending a successful year playing with premiership winning team the Townsville Fire. Wilson was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the clubs success by being awarded the Wattle Valley WNBL’s 2014 Rookie of the Year.
Originally from South Australia, Wilson moved to the Centre of Excellence, formally the Australian Institute of Sport when she was sixteen. She has represented Australia at a junior level on numerous occasions, being a member of the under 17 team, as well as more recently representing the Gems in the 2013 FIBA under 19 World Championships where the team collected a Bronze medal. She performed extremely well on the international stage, averaging 13 points and 7 rebounds per game.
At 20 years old Alex will offer the Flames a lot of energy and spark off the bench. “I’m very excited about joining Sydney and to have Shannon as a coach. I have heard great things about the culture of the club and I am very much looking forward to coming in and working hard,” Wilson said.
Coach Shannon Seebohm believes the 174cm guard will be invaluable to the team, “Alex is going to be a great addition to our program. She is still very young and has the potential to become a great player in the WNBL. I am really looking forward to Alex joining us in Sydney for the 2015/16 season.”
Alex will fit in perfectly, working in the back court with the likes of Katie Ebzery, Tahlia Tupaea and Casey Samuels.
