The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames are pleased to announce the signing of Carolyn Swords for the 2015-16 Wattle Valley WNBL season. Carolyn, a 6’ 6” post player comes to the Flames with vast experience playing in professional leagues internationally including Spain, Turkey and Italy. She will compete in the WNBA over the Australian winter with the New York Liberty
Swords had an illustrious College career, graduating from Boston with 1978 points, 920 rebounds and 175 blocks. In her time there she was twice named All American and claimed several other major awards including the Wade Trophy, Wooden Award and was also being a Naismith College Player of the Year nominee. This highlights her impeccable college record both as a genuine scorer and defensively smart player.
Head Coach, Shannon Seebohm was thrilled to have Swords on board with the Flames. “I’m extremely excited we have been able to secure a player of Carolyn’s calibre to Sydney. She is an established player in the WNBA and brings a wealth of experience to our team. She will provide us with great inside presence and will also act as a defensive anchor that will complement the rest of our roster extremely well”.
Swords is excited to be playing in Sydney. “I am thrilled to be joining the Flames next season! I have heard great things about the Australian league and I am looking forward to competing for the team”. She said
The Flames hope to announce more signings in the coming days to complement their returning stars in Katie Ebzery, Rohanee Cox, Casey Samuels and Tahlia Tupaea.
