  3. Churchill Fellow comes on board as ambassador of SURLFC

Sydney University Rugby League Football Club (SURLFC) has gained a major feather in its cap with the announcement of Corey Payne as an ambassador.

Payne brings to the club his many achievements both on and off the field. In addition to his professional NRL career, Payne is also a Sydney Uni alumnus, having undertaken both undergraduate and postgraduate studies over the past decade. Amongst a long and impressive string of achievements, Payne was the recipient of the NSW Young Australian of the Year Award in 2013, and is also a Fellow of the prestigious Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, an honour awarded to him in 2012 in the area of Sport for Social Change.

The club is delighted to welcome Payne, and looks forward to further building its support networks to benefit both the players and the community. Continuing to recruit a core of high-quality staff and ambassadors is central to the club’s growth strategy, and Payne will play a key role in the club going forward.

SURLFC Club President Chris Kintis said, “We’re thrilled to have Corey on board. He’s a very dynamic and proactive guy with a lot of drive, and we’re looking forward to seeing his energy directed towards raising the club’s profile and helping us build a strong foundation for the future.”

“I’m excited to be a part of this new chapter of the club’s history,” Payne said. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to get in on the ground level and work with the club to raise the bar and achieve some really significant goals with the team and the local community. It’s going to be great.”
