Sydney University Soccer Football Club (SUSFC) will be aiming for a historic sixth straight victory against rivals UNSW in the 46th staging of the annual Kennard Cup this weekend.

Sydney University’s men’s team have been the dominant outfit over the past five years and another victory on Saturday night at the Dave Phillips Sports Complex will see stretch their superiority to an unprecedented sixth consecutive year.

The Kennard Cup symbolises not only an epic and long-standing rivalry between two of Australia’s leading Universities, but it is also an important strand in the rich history of football in Australia.

There are a number of all age men’s, women’s and over 35’s teams in action starting at lunchtime. The under 20’s play at 6pm, as a curtain raiser to the first grade Kennard Cup match which kicks off at 8pm.

Wet weather caused havoc for a number of SUSFC’s teams over the weekend, with the boys youth and girls youth preseason fixtures cancelled.

SUSFC’s senior men’s teams had some mixed results over the weekend against Northbridge FC, staged on Seven Hills Sports High’s synthetic pitch.

The under 18’s won 4-2, the under 20’s drew 1-1, while the firsts went down 2-1.
