SUSF Director of Athletics Dean Gleeson believes the hype centred on boom sprinter Jarrod Geddes is justified, after reports emerged in the Sydney Morning Herald today (Thursday) that the Sydney University Athletics Club (SUAC) member would begin training alongside Usain Bolt next year.

“There’s a lot of hype around Jarrod at the moment and I think it’s justified,” explained Gleeson.

“He’s a freaky talent with a well-grounded and professional attitude. He has the potential to really shake things up.”

The 19 year old SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder was yesterday (Wednesday) described to the SMH by Bolt’s father, Wellesley, and Norman Peart, the Olympic and world champion’s manager as “white lightning”.

It was also reported that Geddes, a 100m and 200m, would begin training with the fastest man in the world in Jamaica in January.
