A fresh new committee combining past players and seasoned business professionals has been appointed to the Sydney University Rugby League Club, aiming to provide a reinvigorated approach to supporting the club leading into the 2014 league season.
The committee comprises of former NRL and UK Super League head coach Brian Smith as Patron, Chris Kintis (Principal at law firm Rockwell Olivier), Graeme Fowler (CEO of ILH Group Limited), Stephen Elias (Lawyer, Accountant and Director at Advocate Financial Group), John Kambas (Lawyer) and Vivienne Storey (Marketing Manager, Rockwell Olivier).
While Brian Smith’s substantial rugby league reputation precedes him so he needs no introduction to league fans, Kintis and Fowler bring their dedication as former Sydney Uni Rugby League Club players. John Kambas brings his experience as an Australian school boy representative, first grade rugby league player as well as both former player and coach at the club.
New club President, Kintis, says “I’m really excited to be involved again with a great club where I loved playing during my university years. We’re looking forward to re-establishing the club as a major sporting side at the university. We’d also like to develop the club to a level where it can compete outside the tertiary league competition.”
The new committee is in the process of putting together plans for coordinating events and sponsorships over the coming months to build momentum and support for the club ahead of the 2014 season. This will include inviting past players and members to become more actively involved with the club community.
