Following a tough defeat to Eastwood last weekend, Sydney University Football Club’s (SUFC) 2nd Grade team will be required to defeat Gordon at Coogee Oval to join 1st, 3rd and 4th grades in the preliminary finals on September 7 at University No.1 Oval.

“Scotty Stumbles, Benny Roberts and Bill Hovey have done a great job in a grade that is always difficult to coach, and they have played some superb rugby,” said SUFC Head Coach Chris Malone.

“Good luck boys, the whole club will be right behind you.”

All of the club’s Colts teams play this weekend in Preliminary Finals with hopes of reaching Grand Finals in a fortnight.

“We are in the knock-out stages and each team will need to be at their best to beat strong opposition across the grades,” said Director of Colts and Colts 1 Head Coach David Haigh.

“Uni’s 1st Colts team will face a fast finishing Southern Districts, who have the not insignificant advantage of playing at home. The Students must turn up mentally and be prepared to play tough finals footy and if they do this, the results should look after themselves.”
