As three senior Sydney Uni Women’s Water Polo Club representatives prepare to head to Spain this week for the upcoming Water Polo World Championships, another three have been named in the Australian Born 95 squad to undergo special training and overseas travel.
Keesja Gofers (SUSF Elite Athlete Program scholarship holder), Hannah Buckling and Lea Barta form a three-prong Sydney University representation in the Australian Stingers team that will leave this week for a pre-World Championship tournament in Seville, followed by the main event in Barcelona starting in late July.
Lion cubs Tahlia Bogg and Emma Lewis had previously been selected to tour the United States and Canada in early August, but the pair have now also been named in the official Born 95 squad along with goalkeeper Georgia Rossettin.
Apart from the North American tour, the squad will form a stand-alone team in the annual Institute Challenge in Canberra in December, as well as attending various camps in a long term preparation for the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.
The Lions also have representation in the Australian Born 96 squad to tour Europe in August via Bronte Halligan and Kristy Donkin.
