  3. Local derby set to sizzle at Sydney Uni

Never before has there been such anticipation between local rugby union rivals Sydney University and West Harbour. With West Harbour sitting in third position on the Shute Shield ladder, just one point behind second placed Sydney University, a fantastic day of rugby awaits this Saturday at University No. 1 Oval.

“Across all of the teams in the Shute Shield competition, West Harbour probably possesses the most damaging ball runners,” said SUFC Head Coach, Chris Malone.

“Coming from a 26-8 deficit at half time last weekend against Souths, Wests were able to score three tries in the second half to win the game 30-26. This just proves that we need to be on our game for the whole game, we can’t allow ourselves to take our foot of the gas at any stage of this game – otherwise Wests will punish us.”

SUFC and West Harbour will again compete for the White Ribbon Cup, an initiative organised by West Harbour three years ago.

“The White Ribbon Cup is a joint initiative between the Inner West Domestic Violence Liaison Committee (IWDVLC), West Harbour and Sydney University,” said SUFC Executive General Manager, Baden Stephenson.

“The day aims to demonstrate a commitment to prevent violence against women by changing attitudes and behaviours to violence against women in Australian society.”
