Former SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holders and Sydney University Women’s Water Polo Club (SUWWPC) members Hannah Buckling and Alicia Brightwell have played major roles in their respective teams’ successful seasons in the recently concluded National College Athletic Association (NCAA) Water Polo competition for women.

Buckling scored four goals in USC’s exciting 10-9 triple overtime win over Stanford in the National Title game in Boston. She is back in Australia this week and joins fellow Sydney Uni Lions Keesja Gofers and Lea Barta in the Australian Stingers camp prior to the team flying out to China for the World League Finals, which begin in Beijing on June 1.

Meanwhile, Alicia Brightwell scored three goals in Arizona State’s (ASU) 10-7 defeat to UCLA in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Finals, giving her 84 goals for the season – an ASU all-time scoring record for a single season.  She also claimed the MPSF scoring title for the second consecutive season. Brightwell was an integral part of Arizona’s most successful season ever.
