Sydney University’s Under 16 side earned a semi-final berth in the 2012-13 A.W. Green Shield with a 36-run win over St George in their 60-over quarter-final at Sydney University No.1 Oval on Tuesday.

Opener Ryan Danne (52) anchored the University innings of 6-205, with Matthew Coffey (38 not out) and Ben Adams (30 not out) sharing a 76-run sixth-wicket partnership to edge Sydney University into the 200s and Mr Reliability Jack Maddocks chipping in with 29.

Harry Day (2-26) and leg-spinner Jonte Pattison (2-28) led the way in restricting St George to 169. Brent Atherton (26), Saarhil Parekh (25) and Robert Liley (22) were the main willow-wielders for the visitors.

Sydney University will meet Fairfield-Liverpool in one semi-final tomorrow (Thursday), while Sutherland will meet Northern District in the other showdown for a finals berth.

The final will be held next Monday at a venue to be decided after the semi-final results.
