Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF) Elite Athlete Program scholarship holder Alice Keighley and the Under 21 Australian women’s handball team have qualified for the International Handball Federation (IHF) Intercontinental Challenge Trophy, after thumping all before them in the Oceania qualifiers.
Keighley, a Bachelor of Medical Science student and a Sydney Uni Handball Club member, was part of the Australian team that defeated fellow Oceania Nations Samoa, Cook Islands, Vanuatu and New Zealand held earlier this month in Samoa.
The girls remained undefeated throughout the preliminary matches and played off against New Zealand in the final, winning by 7 goals.
(IHF) Intercontinental Challenge Trophy will take place in a yet to be determined destination in 2013.
Last year’s tournament was won by Finland.
