Sydney University has six teams chasing titles in the Men’s Super Division senior and youth league competitions and two in the Women’s Premier League after a stunning round of semi-final results at the weekend.

Spirit FC prevailed 1-nil over Sydney University in the major semi-final of the Men’s Under 20 competition, sending the Students into final showdown with Northern Tigers, who accounted for St George 4-0 in the minor semi-final.

Sydney University grabbed grand final berths in the Under 18s with a 2-1 result over Western NSW Mariners FC; the Under 16s with a 2-1 extra time win over Fraser Park; the Under 15s with a 3-1 win over Central Coast Mariners Academy; the Under 14s with 6-5 result on penalties over Granville Rage; and the Under 13s with a 4-1 win over Macarthur Rams.

In the Women’s Premier League, Sydney University Firsts bowed out of the competition when they lost their minor semi-final 3-1 in extra time to NWS Koalas on Saturday. The Koalas will meet Macarthur Rams in the final for the right to play Illawarra Stingrays in the grand final.

The news was better in Reserve Grade and the Under 12s. Sydney University Reserves booked a grand final berth with a 4-0 major semi-final win over Marconi Stallions, while the Under 12s earned a tilt in the final with a 2-1 result over Northbridge in their minor semi-final.
