Sydney University extended their lead in the Sydney grade rugby Club Championship with a 43-12 win over Penrith at Nepean Rugby Park on Saturday, topping off a clean sweep across the grades.
Winger Nathan Trist crossed for two of the Students’ six tries, while five-eighth Dan Kelly was on target with five conversions and a penalty goal.
While Sydney University remain anchored in fifth place on the competition ladder, the win has put them within sight of the competition frontrunners.
That role has been assumed by Southern Districts, who head the way on 31 points, with Eastwood (28), Eastern Suburbs (28), Manly (28), Sydney University (27) and Parramatta (21) making up the top six.
With wins in all grades, the Students extended their lead the Club Championship, sitting on 1310 points, ahead of Eastwood (1074) and Eastern Suburbs (1043).
Sydney University will host Warringah at University No.1 Oval this Saturday.
