Sydney Uni Elite Athlete Program (EAP) athlete Anneleise Rubie ran a personal best of 53.16 (400m) over the weekend in her first overseas meet this campaign in Italy.
The time ranks her as the 12th fastest all time Australian junior at 400m. More importantly the performance sets her up for a big performance in the World University Games in a month’s time in China where she will contest the same event.
Domestically the Sydney University Athletics Club (SUAC) has also been enjoying great success with the men currently leading the Winter Premiership just past the half way point of the season. A recent second at the NSW Road Relay Championships, held in Wollongong, sees the SUAC men leading the Randwick Botany Harriers by four competition points, with just three events remaining. This is a remarkable feat considering that the club has not lead the winter premiership at any point in the last thirty years, so to currently be leading arguably the strongest winter club for the past ten years by any margin is an enormous result for the club.
This weekend SUAC will contest the NSW Short Course Cross Country Championships at Rydalmere.
