Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC) ended the 2010 season in style, hosting over 180 guests and players at its Presentation Night on Saturday October 9th at St Andrew’s College.

Features of the night included the presentation of the 2010 U18 Premier Cup premiership Flag to the club’s Colts team and reflecting back on the many on-field positives and off-field good-times shared by all, including making Grand Finals in the Sydney AFL Premier Division and Division One as well as U18 Premier Cup.

Midfielder Adam McConnochie took out a close run-race for the Senior Grade Tim Driscoll Best & Fairest Trophy from Phelan Medallist Alex Lee, with David Mitchell, Tim Barton, Tom Elkington and Ben Mankarious rounding out the top 6. McConnochie who crossed over from Wollongong AFC at the beginning of the year has been a sensational contributor to the club and a popular choice as Player’s Player also.

McConnochie, Barton, Mankarious and Elkington are all SUSF-Trust Company AFL Scholarship recipients, signifying the importance of the Club’s relationships with high performance and community football partners Sydney University Sport and Fitness and the Trust Company of Australia to the on-field success shared this season.

Emerging 19 year old ruck-man Tom Elkington further enhanced his standing as one of the real finds of 2010 after he took home the Col Keeble Most Consistent Award and Club’s Rising Star award.

Todd Considine ran away with the Colts (Jason McLennan) Best & Fairest Award from Kealy Medallist and premiership captain Monty Krochmal and impressive key back Dane Roberton.

Seb Wende (Reserve Grade), Adam Clark (Blues), Taimus Werner-Gibbings (Reds) and Rob Fallon (Golds) were the other respective Best & Fairest winners on the night.

Legends of the Club – Luke Higgins, David Pearson, Leigh McWhirter and Simon Nash were presented Life Membership after each providing greater than 10 years service through not only playing but numerous off-field roles including contributing on various committees, coaching, University Games and leadership groups.

Aaron Hawkins was duly awarded with Clubperson of the Year (“Cec and Bunty Champion Trophy’) after making significant contributions to the club in his off-field role as Vice President of Senior Football, applying himself to a variety of areas across club management and contributing to, and coordinating, much of the day to day operations.

Other significant volunteer contributions were recognised on the night, such as Ann Aitken, Rob Lavery, Michael Murray and Tim Lewis.
