Sydney Uni’s women shone at the NSW State Cup with Women’s First Grade coming second and Women’s Second Grade coming third.
A record number of teams made the annual pilgrimage to Newcastle and a busy Saturday saw three of the divisions complete their preliminary rounds.
Seven teams battled it out in an arduous round robin in Divison 1 Women, with the overall winner being decided after the final game. With two teams locked even on points it was a set count back to determine the winner being UTS over Sydney Uni. Set count back were also required to work the bronze medallists with SNV just pipping BHV Bees
Divison 2 Women was a division with lots of strong teams, and saw an invigorated Manly take the honours from a very determined UNSW. The bronze medal match saw Sydney Uni defeating a well performed Westside team.
Thank you to all the organisers from the Newcastle Volleyball Association for providing such a great tournament and congratulations to all the competitors who were so vigilant in complying with the schedules to help make this huge event so good.
