SWIM CLUB ACHEIVES GOLD STATUS

Sydney Uni Swim Club has for the
second year in a row achieved the prestigious Gold status for 2009 in the
Australian Unity GO Club PB.  Only 32 swim
clubs in Australia
achieved this high standard, with 8 out of the 150 clubs in NSW rating
gold.  This year SUSC scored 119/125 with
a 95% percentage.

The Australian Unity GO
Club PB is the national swimming club standard that recognises and rewards
swimming clubs by measuring their performance across five key areas:

  • Memberships
    – ensuring that there is an active membership, with importance placed on
retaining existing members and recruiting new members
  • Administration
    – that the club is run in an organised and well-documented way, with open
communication with the state swimming body
  • Activities
    – ensuring activities offered by the club provide development
opportunities for all level of swimmer
  • Coaching
    and officiating
    – ensuring that there is
continuous improvement in Club development, JX (Junior Excellence) program
and the promotion of professional and accredited coaching and technical
    officials.
  • Marketing
    and promotion
    – recognising and
developing methods for obtaining sponsorship, raising funds and increasing
community awareness for the benefit of club members.

Each club fills in a detailed workbook answering questions about these
key areas.  Club’s answers are then
evaluated and assigned a rating: Gold, Silver, Bronze, Green and Entry level.

Gold status is the highest standard
and would not be possible without the commitment of the committee, coaching
staff, high parent involvement and outstanding performances by the swimmers at
local and national levels.
