Senior Sydney University swimmers Matt Jaukovic and Jono Newton were recently named in the Telstra Dolphin Silver Squad following their very strong performances at the World Championship trials, where Matt finished 3rd in the 50m and 100m butterfly and Jono finished 4th in the 50m Freestyle.
Matt and Jono have also both been selected to represent Australia at the World University games in July. SUSC head coach Steve Alderman has also been chosen as the team coach.
Junior members of the Sydney University swim team have also received recognition for their performances this year by receiving awards from Australian Swimming as part of the Australian Junior Excellence Program. The program rewards and encourages junior swimmers aged 9 to 13 years of age who, through the development of their aquatic skills and fitness, achieve a high standard of swimming excellence. This year 35 swimmers from Sydney University received awards which is a fantastic achievement for the children concerned.
