Four players from Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC) Colts side have been selected in the initial State Under 16 training squad.
Joshua Parsons, Adrian Yakimov, Jarrod Witts and Michael Hartley have all been selected in the side. Players were selected after a week of state trials at Riverview two weeks ago.
All four will train with the squad in the lead-up to the nab National Under 16 Carnival to be hosted at the nearly complete Blacktown Olympic Stadium in July.
The carnival will showcase the best under age talent from around the country and where from the next generation of AFL draftees will emerge.
The talented lads have been steadily improving their skills this year under the watchful eye of Colts coach, Tim Barling, and will be keen to show their skills at the representative level.
All are currently scholarship listed with Collingwood under the NSW AFL Scholarship Scheme and the ongoing support of Sydney University and Collingwood will hopefully assist these boys reach their full potential.
The club now has five players playing at State Representative level with Tom Young currently competing with the Under 18 RAMS.
While disappointed to have missed out on the State Squad, the University’s Colts also had six other outstanding performers who competed in the state trials. They have the opportunity to continue to improve and look at impressing the selectors next year.
