Sydney University Football Club’s Director of Rugby Greg Mumm and Colts Director Nick Ryan delivered a final 2 hour coaching session to the Paririewood High School Rugby Union team, before they departed for their Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament, last Friday.

Prariewood Coach Jarrod Hodges has been overwhelmed by the assistance offered to the School, including coaching sessions from Wallaby Coach Robbie Deans and League legend Andrew Johns.

“The overall support from the rugby community has been outstanding and we are very appreciative of the effort made by Sydney University to support the Team,” said Jarrod Hodges.

The players spent 2 hours going through their set-piece plays and core skills before being hosted to a BBQ cooked by Sydney University’s Wallaby Dean Mumm. Before exhibiting his talent with the tongs and apron, Mumm spoke to the players briefly about the opportunities through rugby union and the great friendships they could make through touring with a side.

Having seen the squad in action on Friday, Greg Mumm was impressed with the commitment shown in the training and the talent the team possessed.

“As a squad of young men ranging from 16-18 years of age, their enthusiasm and approach to training was excellent. They had some very talented young players and I think that Jarrod and the school need to be congratulated for the effort they have made to give this team the opportunity to experience something like this. We wish them all the best in Japan,” said Greg Mumm.

The team departs Sydney today has their first pool game after the opening Ceremony on Wednesday 29 April. The tournament ends on May 6.
