Alex Blackwell (UNSW) and Lisa Sthalekar (Sydeny Uni) have been selected in the 15 player squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Alex Blackwell has been given the prestigious role of vice captain in the squad, which is to be under the leadership of Karen Rolton.

The 25-match tournament, in which Australia will be the top seed, will be held in four venues – Sydney, Newcastle, Bowral and Canberra – between 7th March and 22nd March.

Before the World Cup, the squad will travel to New Zealand for a five-match ODI series next month.

Alex’s twin sister Kate (Sydney Uni) missed out on a place in the team. Selectors say Kate Blackwell is unlucky to have missed selection after being a regular Australian squad member but the panel feels it has chosen a well-balanced squad for the defence of the World Cup.

Congratulations Girls!
