Sydney University American Football Club plundered a number of records when they won the 2008 NSW Championship with a 38-34 result over West Sydney Pirates at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday night.
The Lions went through the season undefeated to win a record sixth consecutive Waratah Bowl. (Match details to come.)
One of the foundation clubs in the competition, the Lions have dominated the NSW Championships for much of their 25-year history, with a record 10 Bowls to their credit. The Lions won titles in 1985, 1986, 1992 and 1995 before starting their six-season winning streak in 2003.
Overall, the Lions had played in 19 grand finals and made the play-offs on 23 occasions.
