SUAC athletes have put in some great performances of late.
In particular:
- Lara Tamsett took out the U23 Australian Title in the 5000m, placing 5th overall (in the Open age group).
- Jess Heazlewood won the U23 Australian Title in the 20km Walk, coming 6th overall (in the Open event).
- Lachlan Renshaw recorded an Olympic A-qualifier in the 800m, winning the Melbourne Grand Prix last Thursday in 1.45.79, a PB by over a second. Lachie is hoping to replicate this performance to win the 800m in under
1.46 at the Olympic Selection Trials which commence tonight, in Brisbane – if he can manage this feat he will earn automatic nomination into the Australian Olympic Team. - Justin Merlino is also hoping to equal or better his PB of 13.55 in the 110mH, to both defend his national title and push for Olympic selection.
